"What are you gonna do ? You've got yourself a trouble, Du Rumi..", Rumi whispered that sentence alone in her bedroom. She knew exactly the time when she unstoppably slipped down the cliff and hit just the bottom. Are you satisfied ? don't cry anymore, that was all he said, nothing more nothing less, and how she couldn't fell in love then ? And how about Gun Woo ? And, Rumi sadly bit her lower lip, how about Kang Mae himself? Miserably, she hid her head in her arms and cuddled herself to sleep that night.
Coward. That's what she called herself. But she would be happy to call her anything, just anything, as long as it meant she could run away from herself. From clueless Gun Woo. And especially from Kang Mae. She was successfully disappear from both of them for days, but too bad, not for today's concert.
Anxiously, tried her best to convince the person she talked with in the end of the phone line to help solve their problem, Rumi started to get panic. Rain had kept pouring for days and flood was all over everywhere. With the concert hall now filled up by refugees, and almost all the musicians' instruments were still in the carrying wagon van, everybody was in their worst mood. Rumi got all tense now when the mind-loaded mayor's secretary handed her over with the hardest task, to deliver documents needed to be assigned by the maestro himself, after everything she had tried to do to avoid that particular person. She almost yelled to the secretary at that time.
Her heart just pounded so fast when she started knocking on the maestro's room. When there was no answer, she opened the door and entered an empty room. The quiet atmosphere welcomed her and she couldn't help to smile for this serenity. Glancing over the room she then noticed an uneaten sandwich and an glass of orange juice on a tray just next to some scattered musical sheets on the coffee table. Instinctively, she moved to the coffee maker and start to make a cup of coffee. After the coffee was done she put the cup and the documents on the table, sat down and started to write down a message on a piece of paper.
A door was quietly opened without she noticed it as a man stepped out. Walking toward her, uneasy Kang Mae observed that girl from behind. He knew that she was in the room even before he saw her. He knew it because of a very faint-almost faded-scent of wild flower which was lingering in the air, just like the scent you would have when a playful young girl biking down the hill and passed you by with her full basket of fresh-picked flower from the woods. Or when she impatiently waved her hands when she talked with him, well, he didn't have many women in his life, but he was a man to know if he kissed that pale elegant arm to that slim wrist, the scent would strike him much harder there. The scent would smell better if he.....
Kang Mae moved forward not because he wanted to move but more because he needed to stop his dark thoughts to form further and more solidly built. It was alright to keep him staying up late at night but not here, not now, not with Rumi just in front of him in the daylight. Gosh, he was a world renowned conductor, not a cave man. Managed to keep quiet, he saw how both the pen Rumi held didn't work. Saying nothing, he reached out his own pen to Rumi.
It was not because a pen was just came up from thin air which made Rumi jumped off her chair. It was as if all Rumi's nerves were made to fully respond to the existence of this very man. She was even scare to move because she knew she would all shivered like a lost puppy dog in the rain and that would be the last thing she would ever had in her nightmare list. All she wanted now just to run away, ran or she would humiliated herself in front of him. So she rushed him to just sign the documents, but as he wanted to torture her, he simply ignored her favor. Felt like she almost collapsed, she tried once more to get his signature, just to get that very stern of Kang Mae's gaze. Didn't find a way to escape faster, she shut her mouth up.
So when the maestro spoke up, she absolutely lost.
"Are you feeling unwell ?", Kang asked her.
"What ?", eh, was he really asked about her condition ?
"I didn't see you for the past few days. Did you go home ?", where have you been for the time being ? didn't you know that i need to see you ? what if i really ask her this question, how would she respond ? and Kang began to think that he was really lost his mind.
"Then did you go and play with Gun Woo ? That can't be, he's been busy conducting the choir. Are you having an affair ?" Okay, now he was officially crazy, Rumi's facial expression just told him that. Man, just control yourself, alright ? This is for cover up then, not being able to stop himself, Kang started to babble.
"Get along well with Gun Woo. Good men are hard to come by," and he went on but stopped immediately when he saw Rumi just stared at him strangely. Thinking that Rumi thought how odd he was then, Kang decided to stop talking and just listened when Rumi shared him her thoughts.
"Teacher..I think I've really fallen for Gun Woo."
"Did anyone say anything ? Aren't you dating him?" acted all ignorantly, Kang snapped back.
"But..I don't know what he thinks."
"I think he likes you. Doesn't he ?" His heart was bleeding now, it was odd though how Rumi intensely looked at him, but Kang kept going, "He likes you. I know that."
"Really ? Teacher, do you really think so ?"
How would he answer this time ?
What did she expect from him exactly ?
Kang Gun Woo, answer me honestly.
Rumi, why would you ask me that question ?
"I'm talking about the other Gun Woo." Rumi went on talking, trembled at first but seeing how frozen and startled Kang by her blatant statement, it somehow turned her to sound determined, much more confident. She looked straight to his eyes, refused to shift her gaze, "Not that young, gentlemanly, kind Gun Woo. I'm talking about the old, terrible, selfish one. The hard to please, bad Gun Woo."
Deep in her heart Rumi began to fall apart. I'm sorry Kang Gun Woo, I just can't hold my heart any longer, i don't have the strength to carry on, I just want you to know. I simply can't hide it anymore, will you understand ?
